Sort Battle: a casual game in progress
ZeoDesigns taught us years ago that people play games for different reasons, including to “zone out”, to change their mood. For several months, I’ve carried the idea that casual games can serve that need simply by giving players something to sort. Simple as that. Put stuff in different bins. Put all the blue-colored parts over there.
Of course there was a game design in my head, based on this thought, and for the last few weeks, I’ve been building that game. I have lots of existing parts, implemented in my PAX engine, so development went quickly.
My wife is my prime tester, and always gives me good feedback, even if she only wants to play for 5 minutes. This time, she’s been playing for days, and tells me that my new game feels as addictive as Candy Crush.
But I need more testing, and feedback from more voices, so I’m releasing it to you, hoping you’ll let me know what you think.
